Whitman shuts out press at her own media event (video)
Watch the video on the CBS 5 website for a full report on Meg Whitman's curious press event on March 9th. Some excerpts:
Hank Plante: "It started out as a typical campaign event: Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman meeting with some railroad officials in Oakland. And she invited the press along to publicize it all. But then, things took a turn for the bizarre, when Whitman refused to answer any questions from the very press corps she had invited...."
"Then, things approached the chaotic as security blocked cameras. The scene continued this way until Whitman's press aide escorted the media out. Finally, security actually put up a shade to block any more pictures of Whitman from being taken."

Wow, a candidate afraid to answer unscripted questions. I've searched the internet extensively to try to find unscripted journalist interviews with Ms. Whitman and have yet to find one. I guess Ms. Whitman will broadcast her wisdom to the voters through 30 second commercials, sort of like little pellets of wisdom from the Pez dispenser of her mind. As a voter, I need to know more. In her "press opportunity" yesterday, she extolled the benefits of goods shipment through California without once mentioning the impact on the health of California's children and elderly. I want to know what Whitman will do to clean up an industry whose pollution causes thousands of premature deaths in California every year and tens of thousands of cases of asthma. There are many more questions that Whitman needs to answer if she expects voters to support her.
